the Sunday Scaries (and how we’re not letting them win)

You know that feeling.

Late Sunday afternoon…
The light starts to change, the weekend feels like it’s slipping away, and suddenly your brain is like

“Did you do enough?”
“Are you ready for the week?”
“Everything starts again tomorrow.”

The Sunday Scaries.

I used to let them completely take over.

I’d spend my whole Sunday either avoiding everything I needed to do or thinking about it so much that I couldn’t actually relax. And somehow, I’d end the day feeling both unproductive and anxious.

Not exactly the vibe.

So I started doing Sundays a little differently.

Nothing crazy. Nothing strict.

Just simple resets that make Monday feel a little less heavy.

A clean house.

There is something about waking up on Monday to a clean kitchen, folded laundry, and things put back in their place that makes life feel… manageable.

Not perfect. Just lighter.

It’s like you’re giving your future self a head start.

A plan for food.

Not a full, overwhelming meal prep.

Just a loose plan.

What am I eating this week?
Do I have what I need?
What can I make easy on myself?

Because nothing makes a long day feel harder than not knowing what you’re going to eat when you’re already tired.

A clear mind.

This one matters the most.

Instead of letting everything swirl around in my head, I get it out.

Write it down.
Make a list.
Look at the week ahead.

What actually needs to get done?
What can wait?
What do I want this week to feel like?

Because when everything lives in your head, it feels overwhelming.

When it’s on paper, it feels doable.

And maybe the biggest shift…

I stopped trying to make Sunday feel like the end of something.

And started treating it like the beginning.

A soft reset.
A chance to take care of myself.
A way to set the tone for the week instead of dreading it.

The Sunday Scaries don’t fully go away.

But they get quieter.

And Monday doesn’t feel so heavy when you walk into it with a clear mind, a clean space, and a plan.

So if today feels a little anxious…

you don’t need to overhaul your life.

Just reset it.

A little bit goes a long way.

Pour your coffee, stay awhile
