The Conversations That Started It All
I’ve always loved coffee.
Not just the drink itself, but the whole experience of it.
The ritual.
The quiet.
The way it slows you down, even if just for a few minutes.
Although if I’m being honest…
It didn’t always look the way it does now.
There was a time it was mostly creamer with a splash of coffee.
And somewhere along the way, that turned into actually loving coffee for what it is.
Real coffee.
Simple.
Intentional.
I’ve been called a coffee snob more times than I can count… and honestly, I’ll take it.
Because for me, coffee has never been about caffeine…
with the exception of a few years working night shift as an ER nurse.
But even then, it was more than that.
It was the pause between the chaos.
The deep breath in the middle of everything moving too fast.
The calm before the storm.
It’s always been about connection.
And if I’m really honest…
That probably started with my Uncle Mike.
There is just something about a cup of coffee and a conversation with him.
The kind where time slows down a little.
Where you end up talking about life, not just what’s going on in it.
And he makes the best cup of coffee.
Hands down.
He’s probably the one who started me on this whole journey to becoming a bit of a coffee snob in the first place.
He’s the salt-of-the-earth type.
The kind of person who just gets it.
Always has something thoughtful to say, always grounded, always real.
The kind of person you leave feeling a little clearer… a little more steady… a little more like yourself.
I wish everyone had their own Uncle Mike.
Because some of the best, most honest, most meaningful conversations I’ve ever had…
started right there.
And somewhere along the way, I realized something…
I love being that person for people.
The one who listens.
The one who helps you sort through it all.
The one who gives you clarity when everything feels a little messy.
The one who tells you the honest thing… I’ll hold your hand while I tell you the truth, but never in a way that feels judgmental.
Big sister energy, I guess.
The kind where I’m not here to have all the answers…
But I am here to sit with you in it.
That’s where The Pour Over Edit came from.
Inspired by the conversations that started over coffee with Uncle Mike.
The idea that life, like a good cup of coffee, isn’t meant to be rushed.
That there’s value in slowing down.
In being intentional.
In taking the time to actually feel your life while you’re living it.
This isn’t about having it all figured out.
It’s about real conversations.
Honest thoughts.
The messy middle of becoming.
Here, you can expect slow mornings.
Thoughts I’ve been sitting with.
Honest conversations about life, growth, and everything in between.
Nothing perfect.
Nothing overly curated.
Just real life… poured slowly.
So if you’ve ever felt like you needed a place to just… sit for a minute
To think.
To feel.
To not have everything tied up in a perfect bow.
You’re in the right place.
Pour your coffee, stay awhile.
